NEVER use the default ‘admin’ username on your WordPress website! It’s one of the easiest ways for hackers to get into your site.
If you used your hosts ‘one click’ install feature to setup WP, youprobably have the default ‘admin’ username. Here’s how to fix that. . .
Login to your WP dashboard (some people refer to the Dashboard as ‘the back end’ or ‘back office’) and navigate to Users > Add New.
On the next page, choose a username that’s not ‘admin’ or something similar and fill out your name and email address.
Set the role for this new account to Administrator. This is VERY important! If you don’t, it’ll be listed as subscriber and you won’t be able access the Dashboard.… More
