Your big dream, your big work in the world doesn’t have to be giant. It doesn’t have to be some grandiose thing. It doesn’t have to be larger than life.
It just has to be YOU.
I talk to so many people who are lost and wandering. Disassociated from life, form Spirit, from themselves. Dispassionate about where they’re headed. Unsure of their purpose in the world.
And I’ll tell you a secret:
YOU can have just as much impact regardless of your work.
Yes, there are absolutely people who are here to do something on an enormous scale – Oprah, Ghandi, Nelson Mandela, Martin Luther King Jr and countless others.
There are also those who are here to be in the trenches. . .
And dozens and dozens and dozens of others.
THEIR great work in the world is to just BE them.
If you are a teacher – BE the best damn teacher you possibly can. Teach your ass off. Share your knowledge. Open minds. Touch hearts.
Bus drivers – BE the most amazing driver your route has ever seen. Connect with people. Share your heart with your riders. Smile at them. Learn their names. Say hello and goodbye.
Mothers and fathers – BE fully present with your children at every moment. Shape your children’s minds and hearts. Lead by your example. Love them so completely, so unconditionally that they never question who they are or what they are capable of.
Cashiers, waitresses, taxi drivers, baristas – serve your customers with grace and joy and compassion. Show them who you are. Smile and be present. See beyond the harried exterior to the human inside. Talk with them. Learn their names and their children’s names and their spouse’s names.
Wherever you are, whomever you are with, whatever you are doing:
You never know the life you could save. You never know the path you could shape. The heart you may touch.
See, the truth is:
YOUR work in the world – whatever that is right now – makes just as much difference as anyone else’s. So do it 100%. Be fully committed to it. Be fully present. Do it with all of your heart and soul.
Be extraordinary. ❤️
Because LOVE is the way forward. Always.
