Very, very, very interesting. And as a kid who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, I can totally see every bit of this and how it played out. It’s no wonder we ended up with trump when you think about it this way…

Oh geez. I grew up in this culture too, but off to the side. I was in a poor family in a less affluent church, so we were taught our riches would be in heaven. Race was a non-issue since all church members (and nearly everyone in the towns we lived in) were white. Other religions and homosexuality were fair game, though, which is what finally made me examine what I’d been taught and go another way. Remember when Falwell claimed one of the Teletubbies was covertly promoting homosexuality? I thought he was insane, but it fits with Sexton’s research.

I haven’t seen trump called the messiah yet, although they talk about him like he’ll save us all. I’ve been seeing some talk about the rapture and end times, though.

I agree it’s a cult. I realized this when I read the account of the Duggan girls several years back and saw myself in almost all of their story.

It’s all coming out now, isn’t it?
