Threat for significant severe weather is increasing for all of North Alabama and southern Middle Tennessee. In the wake of early morning storms the warm front is moving north. Behind the front the sun has returned. The air will become unstable this afternoon. As a storm system approaches from the west later this afternoon thunderstorms will develop. Initially we could have supercell storms. If they form they will be capable of golf ball sized hail winds up to 65+ mph and strong tornadoes. The
threat begins after 5pm over northwest Alabama and will track East into the evening hours. Now is the time to prepare for this possible severe weather event. This event will continue after dark so have a way to get weather information in the event you lose power. The threat should be over In all areas around 1am. #alwx #tnwx stay safe.
