The United States was founded on the idea of freedom and equality. It was founded on UNITY.

And yet, Native Americans and Black Americans have never been truly free. They have been excluded. They have been ridiculed. They have been mistreated, killed, maimed, imprisoned. Treated as less than, because of the color of their skin. Because of their heritage.

But freedom demands equality for all.

And until ALL Americans, regardless of their heritage, regardless of the color of their skin, regardless of their differences, are given the same inalienable rights – rights endowed by their Creator as called forth in our Bill of Rights,

Until ALL Americans are treated with, and given, Justice and Liberty, and can pursue happiness without fear of injustice or malice or hatred or imprisonment as called forth in our Constitution,

None of us are truly free nor united.

I’ll say it again –

FREEDOM DEMANDS EQUALITY FOR ALL

  1. Yes, I like to tell my students that what they meant was white males were free. And even so the ones that owned property were better treated.
