So, I know y’all want an update on the house saga. . .

The deal fell thru because of a stupid loophole that doesn’t allow the lender to pull amended tax returns until 6 months after filing. I filed an amended return in July, which means the lender can’t get tax transcripts from the IRS until January.

We’re trying to find a way to get them sooner tho. And I can’t just download it myself from the IRS website because “it could be altered with photoshop or some program.”

So, we lost the house. It’s still on the market tho, so if we can find a way to get the transcripts, we can make another offer. Or we can find another house to make an offer on.

But we might just decide to find a rental for the next year and try again then. Mom and I are talking about all the details and weighing pros and cons and trying to make a good decision.

In the meantime, we’re still in the hotel but we have NO savings left whatsoever so whatever happens next entirely depends on what we can afford to do with limited funds.

And of course, they’re predicting we’re going to have a snowy winter this year and tomorrow is November. We really need to get moved BEFORE major cold hits or snow hits.

I’m at a loss tho. I really don’t know what to do from here.

  1. Oh dear… I am so sorry to hear this. You worked soooo hard for this. Here is hoping that the insane stress and frustration leads to a happy ending later on <3

Goodness, Annie, this is beyond ridiculous. I’m so sorry this happened to you. You didn’t ask for advice, and normally I would not offer any at all. So don’t read past this if you don’t want it.

Okay, I actually had a similiar problem when I was in Macon, GA. I searched for a rent-to-own arrangement, and that gave me to opportunity to put a small amount of the rent toward purchase. I did buy that house, it gave me plenty of time to get my VA funding all in order while living in the house I wanted. I put in the gas fireplace myself, and finished the upstairs room and put in an extra window when I bought it.

  3. Dang! That’s just wrong, after all you’ve been through and the teams of paperwork you’ve done. I’m so sorry.

  4. Hi Annie, you’ve likely already thought of this, but can you go online to the IRS ‘your needed tax return page’, in the lender’s office, even if you bring in your laptop to do so ?
let me know if you want to get to the root of it, I feel your frustration, sending big hugs.

I’m so sorry Annie. You’re being put through the wringer. When that happens to me, I imagine that there’s something better for me that I’m not able to see yet. Keep the faith and take things one day at a time.
